COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Volleyball continued its exceptional success in the classroom with a cumulative 3.74 grade point average over the recent spring 2020 semester at the University of Missouri. The total resets the program’s record for highest-ever spring GPA by nearly 0.20 percentile.
“What an incredible job by our ladies in the classroom this past semester,” said Mizzou Volleyball head coach Joshua Taylor. “They faced such unique circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic and really had to alter how they approached academics. I’m very proud of how they all faced adversity and produced one of the top academic semesters in our program’s history!”
The Tigers have exceeded a 3.50 team GPA in six consecutive spring semesters at the University of Missouri. Historically, Mizzou has now surpassed a 3.00 collective GPA in 16 of its past 17 spring semesters.
Over the recent spring 2020 semester, each of the 15 Tigers on the roster exceeded a 3.00 GPA. Six individuals produced a perfect 4.00 GPA, six student-athletes posted a GPA between 3.50-3.99 and three Tigers finished with a GPA between 3.00-3.49.
Mizzou Volleyball has regularly enjoyed high academic success rates in the classroom over the years. Beginning with the 2014-15 academic school year at the University of Missouri, the Tigers posted four consecutive 1,000 Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores. A team’s APR score accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of a respective program’s academic performance.
In February, six members of the 2019 Mizzou roster received Southeastern Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll accolades. The Tigers have produced at least five SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll recipients each year since joining the SEC in 2012.
Historically, Mizzou has surpassed a 3.00 team GPA in 26 of its past 30 combined fall and spring semesters at the University of Missouri.
