Jackie “Jack” Dean Grimmett, 79, of Oxford, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023, in Oxford.
Jack was born in Violet Hill, Arkansas, on December 14, 1943, son of the late Cecil and Opal (Stone) Grimmett. Jack was united in marriage to Willene Ball in Oxford, Arkansas, on September 18, 1964, and from this union one son was born, Justin. During his working years, Jack worked for Izard County and Boeing Aircraft in Melbourne, Arkansas. Jack spent his life working. He worked in the sorghum business and shipped sorghum all over the world. Jack enjoyed hunting, especially bird hunting. He raised chickens, bird dogs and beagles. Jack loved horses. He trained and raised horses and showed in various shows throughout Arkansas, Texas, Missouri, and Louisiana ending in the World Show in Ava, Missouri. Jack’s greatest love with his family and spending time with them. He was a member of Oxford Baptist Church in Oxford, Arkansas.
Jack is survived by his wife, Willene Grimmett of Oxford, Arkansas and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Justin Grimmett; parents; sister, Barbara Grimmett and brothers, Bobby Grimmett and Jimmie Grimmett.
Pallbearers include: Larry Arnold, Hal Wilkes Toby McCurley, Alan Estes, Thad Crider and Casey Hall
Honorary pallbearers include: Darrell Ball, Harold Ball, Carrol Ball and Harold Burgess
Graveside services will be Wednesday, October 25, 2023, beginning at 12:30 PM with Bro. Tom Doty officiating at Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, Arkansas. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Doty Family Funeral Service Chapel in Salem, Arkansas.
