Cheryl Jo Emrick, 65 years, and 19 days old, passed away on May 3, 2024, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri with family by her side.
Cheryl was born April 15, 1959 in Lawrence, Kansas to Marvin and Gweneth (Mills) Emrick.
On August 25, 2014, after spending twenty five years together, Cheryl and Ben Dix were were united in marriage in a civil ceremony in Ava, Missouri.
She worked at King Radio and was also a nanny at one time. Her hobbies included crafting and listening to music. She took pride in cooking for her family and friends. Cheryl cared for her parents for ten years before their passing.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents; her partner, Bennett I Dix; her step mother, Pauline; foster mother Virginia Pinee; step son, Ben Dix, Jr.; step grandson, Jacob Dix; her brother, Fred Emrick; great nephew, Tyler Dobbs and great great niece, Skylar Gideon.
Cheryl is survived by her step children, Glen and Angie Dix of Olathe, Kansas, step daughter n law Margaret Dix of Olathe, Kansas; grandchildren, Myley, Jordan, and Wyatt Dix; siblings, Gary (Helga) Emrick, Carl Emrick, Christine Myers, and Jeff Emrick; nieces and nephews, Susanne Dobbs, Gary, Jr (Elizabeth) Emrick, Kimberly (Daniel) Lambert, Jade Holloway, Sean Greer, Jacob Greer, and Robin Brazile. In addition many great nieces and nephews that she also loved so much. Cheryl’s love for children was evident. She would claim several other children as her own whether they were blood relation or not.
Funeral services for Cheryl will be Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, Missouri. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service on Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. Burial will be in the Ava Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Bill Comer.
