The St. Louis Cardinals surrendered six unanswered runs during a 6-1 loss to the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. Nolan Arenado hit an RBI single to give the Cards an early lead in the third inning, but Sonny Gray surrendered three home runs and was charged with his seventh loss. The Cardinals loaded the bases in the second and third innings, but only netted one run. St. Louis remains in second place in the NL Central at 60-and-59. Erick Fedde takes the mound for the Cardinals against Cincinnati tonight. In other team news, the Cardinals placed Matt Carpenter on the injured list yesterday and called up outfielder Jordan Walker.
