Golden Year’s Senior Showcase: A Celebration of Senior Art at the Harlin Museum

The Harlin Museum is excited to announce its upcoming Golden Year’s Senior Showcase, an exhibition dedicated to honoring the artistic talents of local seniors aged 75 and older. This unique event will celebrate the creativity, stories, and artistic achievements of senior artists within the community, providing them with a platform to share their work and experiences.

The exhibition will be open to the public from May 1 to May 31, with a special Meet & Greet Reception on May 31 to celebrate the artists and their work. The showcase promises to be an enriching experience, featuring a wide range of art forms, including paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures, and other creative mediums. Whether the artwork is a cherished family heirloom or a more recent creation, all pieces are welcome, and each will be accompanied by a brief biography of the artist, offering visitors a deeper understanding of the person behind the art.

Submission Guidelines

Artists interested in participating can submit up to 10 pieces of artwork at no cost. Submissions will be accepted from May 1 to May 4 at the Harlin Museum. While all forms of art are welcome, the museum encourages artists to ensure that their drawings, paintings, and photographs are wired and ready for hanging. For sculptures and other three-dimensional works, the museum will assist the submitters in determining the best way to display their creations.

Each piece of submitted artwork must include a short biography of the artist, highlighting their background, artistic journey, and creative process. This gives visitors a unique opportunity to connect with the artists and gain insight into their lives and inspirations.

Why Participate?

The Golden Year’s Senior Showcase is an exceptional opportunity for senior artists to share their work with the community and to be celebrated for their lifelong dedication to the arts. It also fosters connections between generations as visitors learn the personal stories behind each piece, fostering a sense of appreciation for the wisdom and experiences of older artists.

The Meet & Greet Reception on May 31 will offer attendees the chance to meet the artists in person, celebrate their creative contributions, and reflect on the importance of art in our lives, regardless of age. This event promises to be a heartfelt occasion, bringing together artists, families, friends, and art lovers to honor the vibrant creativity of our senior community members.
