ASH FLAT, Ark. – The Sharp County Sheriff’s Office has announced that a total of 328 community service hours were completed by inmates between July 20 and July 26, 2025. The program, designed to help individuals pay off fines while giving back to the local community, included work at Tri County Recycling and the Cave City Watermelon Festival.
Under the coordination of Brian Watson, participants contributed to various public service efforts across the county. The initiative not only reduces jail overcrowding but also benefits local events and services that rely on extra manpower during busy periods.
Chief Deputy Kevin “Bart” Simpson extended appreciation to Judge Michelle Huff, who donated Gatorade for the community service crews, a much-needed gesture as crews worked in the summer heat. Gratitude was also expressed to Brian Carter for his donation of watermelon, which was shared with the entire jail.
The Sharp County Sheriff’s Office continues to support programs that allow non-violent offenders to give back to the community in meaningful ways.
