Eminence, MO. – The Shannon County Sheriff’s Office issued an official statement on an arrest that took place recently involving a Kentucky man who was on parole and assaulted a woman from Eminence. The release can be read below.
On July 22, 2025, Jay Weston Peterson allegedly assaulted a female while staying in Eminence, Missouri. Peterson, who is currently on parole in the state of Kentucky, violated the terms of his parole by leaving the state without authorization.
On August 15, 2025, Peterson was taken into custody at the Probation and Parole Office in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. This arrest was the result of swift and coordinated law enforcement action across state lines.
Peterson is facing the following charges:
Violation of Parole – KRS 439.430 (Kentucky law) – Felony Offense
Rape or Attempted Rape – RSMo 566.030 – Unclassified Felony
Domestic Assault – 1st Degree – RSMo 565.072 – Class B Felony
Peterson remains in custody at the Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Office in Kentucky awaiting extradition proceedings.
