Sheriff’s Office: Don’t Rely on Facebook or Website for Reporting Emergencies

MELBOURNE, Ark. — The Izard County Sheriff’s Office is reminding residents that while the agency’s website contact form and Facebook Messenger are available for general communication, these platforms are not monitored around the clock and should not be used to request immediate assistance.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, several people have recently attempted to reach deputies through these methods when a direct response was needed. Officials caution that this can cause delays, particularly in urgent situations.

For non-emergency needs requiring direct contact with a deputy, residents are asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 870-368-4203. For emergencies, citizens should always dial 911.

The website contact form and Facebook Messenger remain important tools for submitting non-emergency crime tips or requesting general information. However, the Sheriff’s Office stressed that phone calls are the quickest and most reliable way to reach law enforcement when assistance is needed.

The department thanked the public for their cooperation, noting that using the proper communication channels helps deputies serve the community more effectively and ensures residents receive the fastest possible response.
