NFL: Week 3 RECAP

Steelers 21, Patriots 14

Aaron Rodgers threw two touchdown passes, including his 509th career TD to DK Metcalf, surpassing Brett Favre for fourth place on the all-time list. Despite being outgained 369–203, Pittsburgh capitalized on five New England turnovers. Rodgers connected with Calvin Austin for the game-winning score late in the fourth quarter. T.J. Watt added two sacks, and Jabrill Peppers made a key fumble recovery in his return to Foxborough.

Colts 41, Titans 20

Indianapolis improved to 3–0 behind a balanced offense. Quarterback Daniel Jones passed for 255 yards and a touchdown, while Jonathan Taylor rushed for 102 yards and three scores. The Colts’ defense intercepted rookie Cam Ward twice, maintaining their undefeated record .

Buccaneers 29, Jets 27

In a thrilling finish, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers edged out the New York Jets 29–27, improving to 3–0 for the first time since 2005. The game featured dramatic momentum swings, including a pivotal blocked field goal return.

With under two minutes remaining, Jets linebacker Will McDonald IV blocked a 43-yard field goal attempt by the Buccaneers and returned it 50 yards for a touchdown, giving New York a 27–26 lead.

Despite the setback, Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield orchestrated a final drive, completing passes to Emeka Egbuka and Sterling Shepard, setting up kicker Chase McLaughlin for a 36-yard field goal as time expired.

Commanders 41, Raiders 24

Washington dominated with a high-powered offense. Marcus Mariota (in for Jayeen Daniels) threw for 320 yards and four touchdowns, while Brian Robinson Jr. added 90 rushing yards and a score. The Commanders’ defense forced two turnovers, contributing to the win .

Eagles 33, Rams 26

Philadelphia’s defense made a game-winning play as Jordan Davis blocked a field goal attempt and returned it for a touchdown as time expired. Jalen Hurts threw for 280 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Eagles to victory. Rams had a 26-7 lead in the third quarter.

Panthers 30, Falcons 0

Carolina dominated Atlanta in a shutout victory. Bryce Young threw for 250 yards and two touchdowns, while the Panthers’ defense intercepted three passes and sacked Desmond Ridder four times.

Vikings 48, Bengals 10

The Minnesota Vikings dominated the Cincinnati Bengals, delivering the Bengals’ worst loss in franchise history.

Making his first start for Minnesota, Carson Wentz threw two touchdown passes over three quarters before giving way to rookie Max Brosmer.  Cornerback Isaiah Rodgers set a Vikings record with two defensive touchdowns, forcing three of Cincinnati’s five turnovers in the first half alone.  Running back Jordan Mason rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns on just 16 carries, providing a strong offensive presence.

Jaguars 17, Texans 10

Jacksonville edged out Houston in a defensive battle. Trevor Lawrence threw for 220 yards and a touchdown, while the Jaguars’ defense held the Texans to just 10 points. The game was decided by a late touchdown drive in the fourth quarter .

Browns 13, Packers 10

The Cleveland Browns secured a dramatic 13–10 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, snapping an eight-game losing streak. Veteran quarterback Joe Flacco led the team, completing 21 of 36 passes for 141 yards and one interception. The Browns’ defense played a pivotal role, sacking Packers quarterback Jordan Love five times and forcing a crucial interception by safety Grant Delpit.

Defensive lineman Shelby Harris blocked a 43-yard field goal attempt by Packers kicker Brandon McManus with 27 seconds remaining, setting up the game-winning drive. Rookie kicker Andre Szmyt, who had struggled earlier in the season, redeemed himself by nailing a 55-yard field goal as time expired, securing the win for the Browns.

Chargers 23, Broncos 20

Los Angeles remained undefeated with a last-minute field goal. Justin Herbert threw for 275 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winning drive. The Chargers’ defense stopped the Broncos on a crucial fourth down late in the game.

Seahawks 44, Saints 13

Quarterback Sam Darnold led the offense efficiently, completing 14 of 18 passes for 218 yards and two touchdowns. Rookie wide receiver Tory Horton made a significant impact with a 95-yard punt return touchdown, setting a new franchise record.  Wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba caught five passes for 96 yards and a touchdown, marking his first touchdown of the season.  Running back Kenneth Walker III added two rushing touchdowns, contributing to the team’s dominant performance.

49ers 16, Cardinals 15

With starting quarterback Brock Purdy sidelined, Mac Jones stepped in, leading the offense effectively. The game remained tied at 6–6 into the fourth quarter, with both teams struggling to find offensive rhythm. Jones connected with fullback Kyle Juszczyk for a 1-yard touchdown pass, giving the 49ers a brief 13–6 lead. The Cardinals responded with a touchdown, followed by a safety on the 49ers, taking a 15–13 advantage. In the final moments, Jones orchestrated a methodical drive, setting up kicker Eddy Pineiro for a 35-yard field goal as time expired, securing the win for San Francisco.

Bears 31, Cowboys 14

Quarterback Caleb Williams delivered a standout performance, tying his career high with four touchdown passes.  The Bears’ defense was relentless, with linebacker Tremaine Edmunds recording two interceptions, including a crucial fourth-down stop in the end zone, and defensive lineman Montez Sweat adding a sack to the team’s tally.

Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb exited the game early due to an ankle injury, further depleting the Cowboys’ offensive options.

SUNDAY NIGHT:   Chiefs 22, Giants 9

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs picked up their first win of the season by beating the New York Giants 22-9.

Mahomes completed 22 of 37 passes for 224 yards. His on-the-run 33-yard throw to Tyquan Thornton midway through the fourth quarter set up Kareem Hunt’s 1-yard TD run that put the game away and sent many fans to the exits.

The Giants fell to 0-3, with Russell Wilson throwing two interceptions and finishing 18 of 32 for 160 yards.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicker Chase McLaughlin’s last-second kick lifts Bucs past the New York Jets on 36-yard FG.

 

336-pound Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jordan Davis blocks the field goal attempt by Los Angeles Rams kicker Joshua Karty and returns it 61 yards for a touchdown to seal the Eagles win.

 

Jacksonville Jaguars safety Antonio Johnson picks off Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud to seal the win.

 

New York Jets defensive end Will McDonald IV takes blocked kick 50-yard TD for the tie.
