The West Plains Zizzers traveled to face the Logan-Rogersville Wildcats on Friday night. Zizzers came into the night off of a loss to Branson with a 2-2 record. The Wildcats 4-0 coming into the game beat state ranked Carl Junction one week ago.
The game started with West Plains driving down into field goal range but the Wildcats blocked the try and took over but was forced to punt after just three plays. West Plains also went three and out on their next possession before Rogersville started the scoring on their next drive taking a 7-0 lead. West Plains answered but the PAT was blocked making the score 7-6 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter found both teams exploding offensively combining for 48 second quarter points with LR leading 35-26 at the half.
The second half started a little slow with three possession in a row that ended in a punt before the Wildcats extended their lead to 41-26 on a rushing touchdown which is where the third quarter scoring ended.
West Plains started the fourth quarter with a touchdown run of their own to make the score 41-34. West Plains’ defensive tightened up and the offense kept performing well scoring to take a lead 48-41. Rogersville was driving and fumbled the ball and West Plains recovered with 2:30 left. Jackson Taylor ended the scoring with a 48 yard run to give West Plains a 55-41 lead. The Wildcats were driving down the field and Josiah Long got the interception to seal the game. The Zizzers scored 29 straight points to end the game and move their record to 3-2. They will travel to Bolivar next Friday night.
