Liberty Eagles win District Title, Defeating Forsyth; 55-7

The Liberty Eagles scored another win in District Championship action this Friday Night after a massive, 55-14 victory over Ava. This week taking on The Forsyth Panthers.

1st Quarter- Onside kick taken by Reid Tune for The Liberty Eagles as they will have a good field position to start the ballgame. A nice draw play by Quarterback Graham Tune as he picks up 19-yards, dragging down several Forsyth Panther offenders. Eagles continue to rally as Tune passes to Kyle Roberts for the first touchdown pass of the night making it 6-0 Eagles. Forsyth tries to get a run going but turn the ball over on penalties. This allows Eagles to try for another 1st & 10 which they do but time runs out. At the End of one, it remains 6-0 Eagles.

2nd Quarter- Eagles have an even greater field position as Kyle Roberts gets the 1st down and more as well as a good kick by Tune to make it a 14-0 Ballgame. Forsyth continues to try to pick up any yardage they can but continues to be put in a punt situation. Eagles on the other hand are picking up huge chunks of yardage as Parker Tune makes another massive reverse play similar to the one he made last week. This followed by a run by Jaren Rutledge as he makes his first several points out of many for the night. Eagles do however fumble the football within the last five minutes. This gives Forsyth the opportunity to score one six point run with a good extra kick.

HALFTIME- Liberty Eagles: 22/ Forsyth Panthers:7

3rd Quarter: Jaren Rutledge becomes the star of the next two quarters of play. He will score five more going into the quarter and then contribute to shutting down the Panther offense. Panthers continue to produce no answer for the Liberty Eagles starting the second half. By the end, Rutledge scores five more to send the Eagles up 34-7 at the end of three.

4th Quarter- Despite an influx of holding & unsportsmanlike calls, Liberty will charge ahead by six more with another run to lead them to a 40-7 victory over the Forsyth Panthers.

The Eagles will move on to face the Lamar Tigers in the next round at The Nest @ Liberty High School, starting a 1PM. Catch the broadcast on The Fox 96.9
