A West Plains man was arrested late Friday night following a domestic disturbance that escalated into threats, property damage, and a physical confrontation with law enforcement.
On November 14, 2025, around 11:00 p.m., officers responded to the 600 block of First Street for a report of a domestic disturbance in progress. Officers had reportedly been called to the same residence earlier that evening for an assault complaint.
Upon arrival, officers encountered Jared Vanzant outside the residence. According to police, Vanzant initially laid down in the roadway but later became aggressive, advancing toward officers with clenched fists and ignoring commands to stop. Officer Gill deployed a Taser, and Vanzant was taken into custody.
Residents of the home told officers that Vanzant had been yelling on the porch and threatened to kill one of the occupants. Witnesses also reported hearing him kick the front door and damage the porch railing. Officers observed a section of black-metal railing dislodged and thrown into the yard, with visible damage to the concrete base. The property owners estimated the damage at $800 and indicated they would pursue charges.
Vanzant was transported to Ozarks Healthcare for evaluation. After being medically cleared, he reportedly resisted officers again, prompting the use of a Taser drive stun during a struggle. Deputies ultimately placed Vanzant in a Wrap Restraint for transport.
He was booked on charges of first-degree property damage and resisting arrest. Bond was set at $25,000.
