Warrant Arrest Leads to Additional Charges in West Plains

Deputies with the Howell County Sheriff’s Office executed a warrant arrest at a residence on State Route K in West Plains, resulting in a physical struggle before the suspect was taken into custody.

Deputies arrived at 4079 State Route K to serve an active arrest warrant for George Roberts. Roberts was observed inside the residence and came to the door after deputies identified themselves. He was advised multiple times of the warrant, which originated from a West Plains Police Department case. Roberts disputed the warrant and requested to speak with his attorney but was told he could do so at the jail.

When deputies attempted to restrain Roberts, he resisted arrest inside the residence, causing one deputy to fall backward into the doorway. The struggle continued outside in the yard, where Roberts resisted efforts to gain control of his hands. During the altercation, Roberts grabbed the deputy’s genital area, causing pain. After repeated attempts to gain compliance, deputies used knee strikes to Roberts’ torso, allowing them to secure him in handcuffs.

Roberts was transported to the Howell County Sheriff’s Office for booking on charges of Resisting Arrest and Assault.
