Even though the Ole Miss Rebels just finished a banner regular season — 11-1 and headed to the College Football Playoff — Coach Lane Kiffin dropped a bombshell: he’s leaving… for LSU.
He posted a message on X Sunday saying after “a lot of prayer and time with family,” he accepted LSU’s head-coaching job. That means he won’t lead Ole Miss in the postseason.
Stepping in: longtime Ole Miss defensive coordinator Pete Golding gets promoted to head coach — just in time for the Rebels’ playoff push.
For LSU, it’s a power move. For Ole Miss players and fans, it feels like a gut punch — their dream playoff ride will start under a new leader.
