The Willow Springs Bears took on the 2-2 Alton Comets on Friday Night, December 19th, 2025 from their home court @ The Willow Springs High School, Mumford Gym.
The game started off with a couple of scoreless possessions from both teams. Willow jump started their game making a 6-0 run early in the 1st quarter, forcing Alton to make a timeout. Willow continued to play aggressively, getting rebounds, steals, jump balls, to further put on the pressure on the Comets. The comets slowly came back having some good offensive possession, but the bears were taking over this game early, with 19-10 being the score at the end of the 1st quarter with Willow on top. The bears continued to show their dominance in the 2nd quarter with big three-pointers being made to increase their lead. Alton’s shots just were not falling, and Alton had to make another timeout. The bears put on a very impressive first half performance, leading 38-20 at Halftime.
Willow came out of the second half getting some major steals and to continue where they left off in the 1st half. The Comets then started to wake up and put on the pressure making some points and making some great defensive plays. The Comets started to play well, but the Bears had over a 20 point lead in most of the third quarter, so a comeback would look like a miracle from the Comets. The 3rd quarter ends 55-33, with the Bears almost walking away with the win. The Bears started to slow their offense down due to the major lead they had, but they still made a couple of buckets to secure their win. The Bears got up to a 30 point lead over the Comets, showing that the Bears were playing some great basketball. Even though Alton still put on a good performance, Willow was just playing more dominant, making the final score 70-42, a fierce win by Willow.
