Today, the Willow Springs Bears faced off against the Parkview Vikings in the consolation championship of the Blue & Gold Holiday Tournament, after a fantastic win the day before.
The Vikings broke out of the gate moving fast, gaining an early lead in the start of the game, leading the bears by 10 points halfway through the first quarter. Unfortunately, this pace continued with the Vikings hammering down on the Bears and widening that gap until the first quarter ended 19 to 2.
The 2nd quarter maintained the trend with the vikings taking their lead further, challenging every pass and shot that the Bears put out, dominating the court. While the Bears put up a stronger fight, they couldn’t overcome the lead over them as halftime closed with a score of 17 to 38, favoring the Vikings.
The 3rd quarter was not kind to the bears either, unfortunately, as the Vikings continued to outclass the bears at every bend of the game. The Vikings maintained their lead, having nearly double the score at 52 to 27 by the end.
The Willow Springs Bears were never able to close the gap that opened at the start of the match, but the team never conceded the turbo clock, maintaining enough of a presence in the game.
The final score of this last game for the Willow Springs Bears in this tournament ended in their loss, 65 to 43, favoring the Vikings.
