WILLOW SPIRNGS, MO- Since October of 2022, The Willow Springs Friends of Ferals Organization has spayed and neutered over 1,087 cats and assisted 261 cats into licensed rescues within a 25-mile radius of Willow Springs, Missouri. These efforts have brought about a great deal of measurable change for felines in the Willow Springs Area
However; Field Data & Sterilization models still show 7,442 cats still require sterilization in order to halt population growth. The impact of this inaction is exponential. Approximately 3,721 unfixed females can produce 14,884 kittens annually — and within that same year, reproduction can compound to more than 59,000 additional kittens. Without large-scale, targeted spay/neuter intervention, the crisis will continue to accelerate, straining caregivers, neighborhoods, and limited local resources.
Here are is the organization’s goals for 2026:
- Spay/neuter at least 800 local community cats
- Maintain 95%+ sterilization in targeted colonies
- Conduct 2 Cat Rodeos (100 cats) per month, April–October
- Expand education and community outreach
Projected Impact: Prevent approximately 48,000 additional kittens in one year — reducing suffering and strengthening long-term animal and public health in our communities.
The organization is asking for support:
- $45/month spays/neuters and vaccinates one cat
- $250/month helps secure one month of veterinary appointments
- $2,250 funds one Cat Rodeo (50+ cats)
- $4,500 funds one full month (100 cats)
No recurring amount is too small — consistency keeps this momentum moving forward.
