Licking Takes Win Against Houston in Districts

The finals of Class 3 District 9 took place tonight, with the first game featuring two long-standing rivals, Licking and Houston.

The first quarter opened with Licking taking the lead from Houston, overall outpacing the Tigers. Still, Houston managed to maintain points on the board. The first quarter ended with Licking pulling a large lead, 16 to 6.

Houston picked up the pace, displaying better defensive pressure as the second quarter took place. Houston could not overcome Licking during this time but held their own much more strongly than in the first quarter. Half-time began with the score at 24 to 17, favoring Licking.

After half-time, both teams returned to the court with the pace of the gain maintaining. The Licking Wildcats were able to score multiple 3-pointers, maintaining the gap between the teams. Despite this, the Houston Tigers kept pace, keeping their score within roughly 10 until Licking picked up the pace. The third quarter ended with the game majorly favoring the Licking Wildcats, 48 to 32.

The Houston Tigers couldn’t pull the game back from the Licking Wildcats, with the pace of the final stretch mimicking the rest of the game. The final score ended with Licking taking the victory, 62 to 49.
