The second match of the Class 3 District 9 Finals took place, featuring the Cabool Bulldogs facing down the Thayer Bobcats.
The first quarter of the game seemed to show both teams staying relatively even with one another in the beginning, until the Bobcats pulled a sharp lead on the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs couldn’t keep up with the Thayer team with the first quarter showing a major difference in scores, 17 to 7 favoring the Bobcats.
The second quarter went very quickly, with Thayer not giving up their dominating lead. The Cabool Bulldogs just couldn’t close the gap between themselves and the Bobcats, as the Thayer offense showed score after score. The second quarter ended with the Bobcats leading, 33 to 14.
The second half of the game began with the Bulldogs sitting at a major deficit. Thayer maintained their strong offense, not afraid to contact their opponents, allowing them to control the pace of the match. The third quarter ended with the score in favor of the Bobcats, 54 to 30.
Never quite enough of a lead to engage the turbo clock, the Bulldogs held on through to the fourth and final quarter. They were unable to stop the clock from engaging this quarter however, speeding up the last bit of the game. While they did put efforts into maintaining their place in the game, they could not overcome their opponents. The game ended, 69 to 37 in favor of the Bobcats.
