The West Plains Lady Zizzers played in the Championship Game of The Class 5 District 6 Tournament on Friday night, March 7th, 2026 from Springfield-Hillcrest High School, Facing the 25-3- Marshfield Lady Jays
Lady Zizzers faced the Lady Jays twice previously in the season
- A 51-42 victory by The Lady Jays in The Pink & White Classic
- A double overtime, 69-67 victory by the Lady Jays on February 16th.
1st Quarter: Tip controlled by The Marshfield Lady Jays. Black door cut and shot is no good and ball goes to The West Plains Lady Zizzers.
Bad pass is fumbled but a foul and Lucy Hafer goes to the line to shoot two. First try no good but makes the second.
Peyton Ward for the rebound by The Lady Jays puts up the next shot as Lady Jays lead 2-1. Rebound Hafer and shot no good. Quinn Aldridge with the ball for the Lady Jays tries a three which falls short but stays with it. Wide open three short on the rebound by Zoe Hafer after Aldridge loses it but taken back.
An air ball is no good by Aldridge for the Lady Jays but Gillian Green steals and passes to Ainsley Mcwilliams and Zoe Shrubb as is bumped and fouled. Shaylee Peterson takes the ball. To the back corner Gillian Green with the shot is no good. Ball goes back to the Lady Jays.
Bad pass by Izabella Cherne and a three and a foul on the shot sends Zoe Scharnhorst to the line. Unfortunately only the last free throw falls, but ties the game at 2-2.
Peyton Ward takes the basketball as a reach -in foul is called on West Plains. Inbounded out and nearly blocked but the fourth turnover for Marshfield as Gillian Green forces the ball out of bound. Jewlia Willard comes into the ballgame and tries a long three which is blocked and goes back to Marshfield.
Left handed dunk by Sophomore Miley Austin for the Marshfield Lady Jays who take a 5-2 lead. Followed by another dunk by Junior Kendyl Dolan for Marshfield.
West Plains loses the ball two more times. Izabella Cherne shoots and scores but a foul. Miley Austin shoots the next few points for Marshfield and lead jumps out to 9-2.
Jump ball on Marshfield and ball goes back to West Plains. And a three by Ainsley Mcwilliams, the first field goal for West Plains- 5-9 now. But answered back by Senior Quinn Aldridge with two for Marshfield. Another three as ball is nearly turned over, once again by Aldridge.
Junior Paris Peacock with the shot at the buzzer is good as The Lady Jays lead the Lady Zizzers, 16-5 at the end of one.
2nd Quarter: Two more turnovers between both teams and another team foul call on West Plains as The Marshfield defense is splitting West Plains in two.
Finally the next field goal by Ainsley Mcwilliams for West Plains is good. Peacock with the next shot for Marshfield as the Lady Jays lead 18-8 with 5 ½ minutes to go.
Miley Austin goes to the line for Marshfield after the next foul on West Plains. Two fouls calls come up on Marshfield after two substantial time runs out.
Peacock with another jumper for Marshfield. Rebound is fought for but picked up by Cherne for Marshfield and takes it but the ball is tied up and goes back to West Plains.
Marshfield with another turnover with 3 ½ minutes to go. Punt fake is no good by Lucy Hafer and goes back to Lucy Hafer. Foul is called by Ainsley Mcwilliams. Marsfield is now in the double bonus as they trail by ten, 19-10 West Plains has only made three field goals so far
Quinn Aldridge shoots two free throws to make it 21-10. Fourth turnover by West Plains on the offensive end.
Foul call on Cherne for Marshfield but by this point, West Plains still has more fouls.
Cherne puts in another wide open shot for two more. Gillian Green gets a block and Zoe Scharnhorst shoots but Ward for Marsfield knocks the ball away and no call.
HALFTIME- Marshfield Lady Jays: 26/ West Plains Lady Zizzers: 14
2nd Quarter: Lucy Hafer shoots a good two out of the gate for West Plains. Answered back on the other end by Senior Tilly Greenfield for The Lady Jays.
Shaylee Peterson goes to the line on a reach in foul for Peyton Ward and makes both, cuts the lead back to ten.
Ball picked up by Quinn Aldridge for Marshfield. Partially blocked and picked up by West Plains and Gillian Green and another foul on the Ward sends her to the line for two free throws.
Gillian makes both. A three on the rebound is good by Aldridge. Taken back for a three attempt by Zoe Scharnorst.
Pass inside as Shaylee Peterson gets the ball back and a foul on Paris Peacock for Marshfield. Fall away jumper is good by Gillian Green, making it a nine point game.
A blocking foul on West Plains sends Quinn Aldridge back to the line for two making both, West Plains back down by eleven, 33-22
Seventeen footer is good on the rebound by Gillian Green. Another three by Aldridge is no good. Long rebound is chased down by Lucy Hafer but stolen from behind by Izabella Cherne who steps through and scores, 35-24 with 4:50 to go.
Taken back and layup is good by Shaylee Peterson. Ball taken back but goes out of bounds off of Aldridge.
Peyton Ward comes back in for Marshfield.
West Plains comes away the ball on a scuffle with 4:15 to go
Foul on Gillian Green sends Miley Austin to the line for two as West Plains keeps hanging by eleven. Rebound and good jump shot by Shaylee Peterson
Another turnover on the Lady Zizzers. Austin passes to Cherne who goes up and in for two more.
Gillian Green with two more after a high low pass on the rebound by Zoe Scharnhorst. Ainsley Mcwilliams with a steal but throws the ball up. Ball taken back by Marshfield. But ball touched by West Plains and goes back to West Plains with 37 seconds to go.
Zoe Scharnhorst with a good cut in for two, now 37-32. But a three by Senior Josie Desha. She is fouled and Gillian Green shoots two.
West Plains down by eight at the end of three, 42-34.
4th Quarter: Peyton Ward with a drive in for two. But a foul and Zoe Scharnhorst shoots two. A blocking foul on Shaylee Peterson and Cherne shoots two for Marshfield.
Gillian Green from the right lane scores and ironically no call. Third foul on Cherne for Marshfield. Green goes to the line to complete the play and the free throw is good.
Bad pass by Marshfield and a steal by Ainsley Mcwilliams and a three by Gillian Green. 47-41 now.
Inbound play by Ward who passes to Greenfield. Shaylee Peterson with a steal and a near save but taken back by Marshfield. Layup by Tilly Greenfield.
Taken back but turned over by Lucy Hafer. Another layup this time by Kendal Dolan brings it back up by eight.
Open shot as the ball is kept by Marshfield brings it back to ten by Miley Austin. Fourth foul, steal and a bucket good by Shaylee Peterson, 53-46 the score with just under 5:00 to play.
Three no good by Izabella Cherne. Taken back by West Plains. Layup missed is open by Gillian Green.
Ward with a three no good. Taken back by West Plains and a three no good by Scharnhorst. Another three this time is good for Marshfield by Kendal Dolan.Ainsley tries to answer it back for West Plains. No good.
By this point Marshfield figures the best bet is to keep fouling West Plains as Cherne shoots about four more altogether.
The name of the game pretty much for the rest of the ballgame is Marshfield shooting free throws and West Plains fouling.
Marshfield comes out as Class 5 District Champs as they defeat the Lady Zizzers by a Final Score of 65-51.
