COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Baseball completed a four-game weekend series sweep of UIC with a 10-0 shutout win in seven innings on Sunday at Taylor Stadium. The Tigers (14-2, 0-0 SEC) secured their 12th-consecutive victory as the Flames dropped to 4-10, 0-0 MVC.
Across the last three games, Mizzou has scored 29 unanswered runs and held opponents scoreless for 22 straight innings.
Lefty Brady Kehlenbrink enjoyed a career day on the hill, working six scoreless innings while only allowing three Flames to reach base. The Ballwin, Mo., native punched out a career-high 11 batters while improving to 3-0 on the season (4.29 ERA).
Missouri got on the board early thanks to a first inning, two-run home run by Jase Woita, his fourth of the year. Kaden Peer, Cameron Benson, and Pierre Seals followed up with back-to-back-to-back solo shots in the third. First, Peer hooked a towering shot 433 ft. just inside the right-field foul pole. Peer’s blast held an exit velocity of 110 mph. Then Benson and Seals knocked home runs on consecutive pitches, with Benson’s 415 ft. shot over the right field fence and Seals’ clearing the left field wall, making it 5-0 Mizzou.
Kehlenbrink continued to cruise as the sophomore logged a pair of strikeouts in each of the first five innings and received an added run of support in the fourth when Woita drove in his third run of the contest with a single to score Maisonet.
The Tigers added four more runs in the fifth, extending their lead to 10. Singles from Benson and Seals allowed Mateo Serna to drive Benson in on a single up the middle, followed by a sacrifice fly to left field that was dropped, bringing Seals home. With the bases loaded, Kam Durnin delivered with a single to the right side that brought Serna and Chris Patterson in to score, giving Mizzou a 10-0 lead.
Mizzou would end the game early, as right hander Luke Fricker came in for a 1-2-3 seventh inning, with the run-rule being enforced for a 10-0 Mizzou win.
