In celebration of the upcoming United States Semiquincentennial, the Harlin Museum of West Plains will present its annual Spring Art Show with a patriotic theme this year.
Artists are invited to submit original two-dimensional artwork inspired by America’s people, landscapes, and symbols. Entry dates will be March 20 through March 23 at the museum.
The show will feature three themed categories:
• American Symbols & Icons – including flags, eagles, monuments, historic imagery, and other national emblems.
• Landscapes of America – rural, urban, heartland, or coastal scenes that capture places that feel distinctly American.
• Portraits of America – depictions of veterans, workers, everyday citizens, historical figures, or contemporary Americans.
All entries must be original work created within the past two years and must not have been previously exhibited in a Harlin Museum competition. Artwork must be two-dimensional, framed or gallery wrapped, wired, and ready to hang, with a maximum size of 36 by 48 inches. Sawtooth hangers will not be accepted.
Entry fees are $20 for the first entry, $15 for the second, $10 for the third, $5 for the fourth, and the fifth entry is free.
Awards will include Best of Show ($100) as well as first, second, and third place prizes in each category.
A separate three-dimensional art show is planned for June, allowing artists working in sculpture and other 3-D media an opportunity to participate later in the year.
