Mountain Grove Schools Closed Today Amid Announcement of Emergency

Update:  We with Sean McClear of the Mountain Grove Fire Department at the scene.  He state that the fire department received the call around 6:00 a.m. this morning.  Upon arrival there was smoke in the second story roof line.  Fire fighters located the fire which started and was contained to a janitors closet.  There is smoke damage through many of the classrooms of the building that made its way through the drop ceiling.  The Fire Department, Fire Marshall and the school district are working together to determine the next steps.

Mountain Grove, MO. – The Mountain Grove School District is closed today, March 19th, as a result of an announced school-wide emergency. Little information is known at this time. The official announcement can be read below.


“The Mountain Grove School District will be closed today, March, 19th due to a school-wide emergency. All buildings will be closed. More information will be released at a later time.”


According to the social media page of the Mountain Grove Middle School, this is likely due to a fire that occurred at the Vo-Tech building.


“Attention parents

There is a fire at our Vo-Tech bldg. School has been canceled district wide. More information to come.”
