West Plains Man Arrested After Alleged Assault and Threats During Domestic Disturbance

A West Plains man is facing multiple charges after police say he forced his way into a residence and assaulted his father‑in‑law during an early‑morning domestic disturbance.

According to a probable cause statement filed in Howell County, officers were called to the home around 2:55 a.m. on March 22. When they arrived, they found Darius Lee Collins and an adult male victim who had been involved in a physical altercation. The victim was later identified as Collins’ father‑in‑law.

Investigators say Collins forcibly entered the residence after being denied entry, then “knowingly caused physical injury to the victim by engaging in a physical assault, which included taking the victim to the ground and striking him” . Officers reported seeing visible injuries consistent with the victim’s account.

Police say Collins also made multiple verbal threats to kill individuals at the scene, statements that officers witnessed firsthand. The document states the threats were made “in a manner that would reasonably cause fear of death or serious physical injury” .

Collins allegedly continued making threats and refused to comply with officers’ commands. Police noted he appeared intoxicated.

He was taken into custody and is charged with two counts of first degree burglary, one count each of domestic assault and harassment his bond is set at $50,000.
