The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a double shooting that occurred Monday evening on Bayhill Place. Deputies were dispatched around 8:05 p.m. after a neighbor reported gunshots and yelling.
When deputies arrived, they found a man outside the residence with a gunshot wound. First aid was provided until Baxter Health paramedics transported him to the hospital.
During the initial investigation, deputies learned a second man involved in the incident had also been shot and had already been taken to Baxter Health by private vehicle. According to the Sheriff’s Office, an exchange of gunfire occurred between the two men, ages 50 and 21. Both firearms were recovered at the scene.
Authorities say the dispute stemmed from a property boundary issue between the two parties. The case remains under active investigation, and findings will be forwarded to the Prosecuting Attorney for review of potential criminal charges.
