WEST PLAINS, MISSOURI- Progress continues on the Independence Drive overpass in the City of West Plains. Friday morning Mayor Mike Topliff was able to receive a firsthand look at progress made since the project entered this detour phase of the project on November 19th.
Since November 19th; the overpass’ existing detour was expanded for motorists traveling North or Westbound from just near the overpass site to areas including Good Hard Drive & Old Airport Road.
East and Southbound traffic has continued to detour through Missouri Avenue & Thornburgh Street in West Plains.
An intended goal of the overpass is to eliminate delays at the railroad crossing, improve overall traffic flow, and ensure faster response time for Police, Fire, & EMS Personnel.
With the project moving steadily forward, the overpass is expected to be completed and open to traffic by next month.
