Wesley “Wes” Emmitt Smith

Funeral Services for Wesley Emmitt Smith, Age 66 of Norwood, Missouri will be held on Wednesday, May 6th, 2026 at The Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Missouri, beginning at 3:00 PM. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 2:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made to The New Hope Cemetery, Pleasant Hope, Missouri.

Wesley Emmitt Smith, 66 years, 8 months, 5 days old, passed away on May 2, 2026, at his home with all his loving family by his side.

Wes was born August 27, 1959, in John Day, Oregon, to Charles E. and Joyce (Shelton) Smith.

Wes grew up in Douglas County and attended Skyline and Ava High School.

On June 15, 1984, Wes and Patricia “Kim” Hathcock were united in marriage in Ozark, Missouri. Together they raised three amazing daughters, Jessica Puangnak, Jennifer, and Charlee.

Wes worked at Skyline and Norwood Schools in the Maintenance Department and he retired in 2019.

He always loved living in the country and enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, and going to Champion for the daily dose of gossip.

He and Pat attended Destination Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Joyce (Shelton) Smith; his in-laws, Martin and Mary Ann (Hartley) Hathcock; one brother, Emmitt, and one sister, Faye (Smith) Swofford.

Wes is survived by his wife, Pat; three daughters, Jessica (Puangnak) and Shawn Glossip,

Jennifer (Smith) and Mat Beck, and Charlee and Nakita Smith; grandchildren, Zoey (Glossip) and Brady House, Curtis Zayne Glossip, Emma Grace, Westin, Miles Potter, and Maddax Beck; siblings, Kay (Smith) and John Weisbrod; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many special friends including Jack Coonts and Claude Robertson.
