The Izard County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Horseshoe Bend couple on felony child endangerment charges following an investigation that began in late September.
Chad Griffith, 41, and Danielle Griffith, 36, were each charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor in the first degree, a Class D felony.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the case originated on September 30, 2025, when deputies learned that Chad Griffith, an unregistered sex offender, had recently moved to Horseshoe Bend. Deputies located the couple and two minor children staying overnight in a tent positioned on top of their vehicle at a business in Melbourne.
During the contact, investigators reported that Chad Griffith was found with methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. A search of the vehicle uncovered multiple firearms and additional paraphernalia. He was arrested on charges of failure to register as a sex offender, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Danielle Griffith was also taken into custody at that time for possession of drug paraphernalia. The Department of Human Services (DHS) was notified regarding the two children.
On October 30, 2025, the Sheriff’s Office received information that one of the minor children had tested positive for methamphetamine. That development led to the additional felony child endangerment charges filed against both Chad and Danielle Griffith.
The case remains under investigation.
