Arrest and Charges Filed in Controlled Substance Case

From the Shannon County Sheriff’s Department:

The Shannon County Sheriff’s Office announces the arrest of Roger Dale Fears, following an incident that occurred on Friday, December 5th, 2025.
 
At approximately 2210 hours, the Sheriff’s Office received a call from an individual identifying himself as “Roger,” requesting that deputies respond to test a substance he possessed. Deputies arrived at the residence located at 834 Old 60 in Birch Tree, Missouri, where Mr. Fears presented what he believed to be a marijuana cigarette. He stated he had purchased two marijuana cigarettes from an individual in Birch Tree and that several others had already smoked the first one.
 
Field testing conducted by Sergeant Berkshire determined that the cigarette presented by Mr. Fears tested positive for methamphetamine. After further investigation, and following the arrest of Mr. Fears, Sergeant Berkshire located an orange prescription bottle containing four white oval pills imprinted with “M365.” The pills were identified as hydrocodone, a Schedule II controlled substance. Mr. Fears stated he did not possess a valid prescription for the medication. Mr. Fears was taken into custody without incident.
 
The Shannon County Prosecutor’s Office has formally charged Roger Dale Fears with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class D Felony). Bond was set at $5,000.00 cash or surety, with the condition of random drug screening. Mr. Fears is currently on felony probation at this time.
