(Mountain Grove, MO) An urgent call for help is going out from the Mountain Grove Animal Control as the local shelter faces a critical overcrowding situation.
Officials say the facility is currently at maximum capacity, with seven adoptable dogs in need of immediate homes. In response, the agency has announced that all adoption fees are being waived effective immediately in an effort to place the animals as quickly as possible.
Shelter staff say the move is aimed at freeing up kennel space so they can continue taking in and caring for other animals in need.
“Every empty kennel means we can help another animal,” the department noted in its announcement, urging community members to step in.
Despite the waived fees, each dog will still be fully prepared for adoption. All animals leaving the shelter will be vaccinated, microchipped, treated for fleas and ticks, and dewormed to ensure a healthy start in their new homes.
As an added incentive, adopters will also receive a voucher for a nutritional package from Urban Dogg to help their new pet transition.
Community members who are unable to adopt are still encouraged to help by spreading the word. Shelter officials emphasize that increased visibility can make a significant difference in finding homes for the animals.
Those interested in adopting can contact Mountain Grove Animal Control at 417-926-5181 to learn more or schedule a visit.
With time a critical factor, officials say community support is essential to clearing the shelter and giving these dogs a second chance.
