Alton School Announces Leadership Updates

The Alton R-IV School District would like to share an important leadership update with our school community.
 
Mr. Jason Andrews has submitted his intent to retire at the conclusion of the 2026–2027 school year after many years of dedicated service in education. We are grateful for Mr. Andrews’ leadership and commitment to the students, staff, and families of Alton Elementary, and we look forward to celebrating his career and contributions as we approach his retirement.
 
Following this announcement, the district is pleased to share that Mrs. Stephanie Miller, currently serving as Assistant JH/HS Principal, has been promoted to Elementary Principal beginning with the 2027–2028 school year. Mrs. Miller has demonstrated strong leadership, a deep commitment to students, and a passion for supporting staff and families. We are confident she will continue the tradition of excellence at Alton Elementary while building strong relationships within the school community.

The Alton R-IV School District is pleased to announce the hiring of Mr. Brandon Somoza as the new junior high/high school principal for the 2026–2027 school year. Mr. Somoza holds two master’s degrees and a Bachelor of Science from Missouri State University and is currently pursuing a Doctorate from Southwest Baptist University.
 
In recent years, Mr. Somoza served in the West Plains R-VII School District as Coordinator of At-Risk Student Services, Alternative School Principal, and Assistant Principal. His prior experience includes serving as a counselor for the Division of Youth Services and as an Investigator for the Missouri Children’s Division. Throughout his career, every role has centered on advocating for, empowering, and supporting young people, especially those navigating challenges, to help them reach their full potential.
 
Mr. Somoza and his wife, Leona, are the parents of seven sons, ages ranging from 25 to 3 years old. He is deeply committed to the importance of strong family values and looks forward to integrating this perspective into the Alton R-IV School District by strengthening partnerships between school, home, and community.
 
Mr. Somoza shared his excitement about the new role: “It is a blessing to join the Alton R-IV family. I am passionate about empowering youth, supporting families, and creating environments where students thrive academically and personally. I will not take this opportunity for granted and will give my best each and every day”.
