An app has been released to Apple phones, and is planned to go through Android soon that is intended to help Missourians keep track of their gas receipts. It’s called the “NoMOGasTax App”. The purpose of this is to help those who wish to file a refund through the gas tax increase refund program later this year.
If you weren’t already aware, in October of 2021 Missouri raised its statewide fuel tax to 19.5 cents per gallon. However, from July 1st through September 30th, Missourians can get a refund on the increase that was implemented. Any gas purchase after October 1st of 2021 can be applied to this refund, as long as their vehicle is under 26,000 lbs.
Since most may have a hard time keeping track of the many receipts they receive from every transaction, this app is intended to collect and store this information for you so you can use it when the time to apply approaches.
Missouri estimates the gas tax will generate an extra $400 million annually by the time tax increases are complete in 2025, and is intended to increase to 29.5 by then.
