Ava Police Respond to Call at Local Motel

Police were dispatched to the Super 8 Hotel at 1711 South Jefferson after a clerk reported that a female guest mouthed the word “help” twice while in the lobby with a male companion.

Officers located the couple in room 208 and identified the male as Jason Hesterlee. The female reported that Hesterlee yelled at her, grabbed her arm, and forced her behind the building, later covering her mouth and telling her to return to the room “if she wanted to live.” She further alleged that Hesterlee stood in front of her with a knife, stating “you are done.” Officers documented visible injuries to her face and forearm.

Hesterlee admitted to pushing the victim and was found to be concealing alcohol in violation of parole restrictions. He was taken into custody and transported to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office for booking.

Hesterlee is charged with:

  • Kidnapping – Facilitating a Felony – Inflicting Injury – Terrorizing – 1st Degree
  • Domestic Assault – 2nd Degree
  • Unlawful Use of a Weapon – Subsection 4 – Exhibiting
