Birch Tree Man Arrested For Fleeing, Possession, and Illegal Weapon

West Plains, MO. – On April 6, 2022 at approximately 10:16 p.m., Deputy Weaver, while on routine patrol near Mountain View, Missouri; witnessed a vehicle cross a double yellow line cresting a hill attempting to elude his patrol vehicle on State Highway 17. After Deputy Weaver activated his emergency lights the vehicle failed to yield and continued north on State Route 17 into Texas County, Missouri.

The driver was observed throwing multiple items outside of the vehicle while fleeing. With help from assisting agencies the vehicle was ultimately stopped after driving over spike strips which were deployed along State Route 17 just south of Summersville. Once stopped the driver of the vehicle fled on foot into a nearby wooded area; the passenger of the vehicle was detained. The driver of the vehicle was apprehended shortly after a K9 Deployment and track to a nearby area where the suspect surrendered without incident.

K9 Otis was also deployed on the motor vehicle and alerted to the odor of narcotics. Following the search of the vehicle, the below items were located and seized: “sawed-off shotgun” and items of paraphernalia which field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Wesley B. Dailey, a 41 year old, white male was arrested on active arrest warrants out of Shannon County, Missouri. Mr. Daily was transported and booked at the Howell County Sheriff’s Office. Charges of felony resisting, unlawful possession of an illegal weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia and an array of driving offenses were forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutors Office.
