From the Shannon County Sherriff’s Office:
On May 9, 2025, Captain McCoy, responded to a report of a domestic assault in progress in Birch Tree. Upon arrival, he observed the victim locked inside a vehicle, visibly frightened. The suspect was in a separate vehicle, shouting obscenities and making threats.
As he approached the suspect to assess the situation, she became verbally aggressive and began making threats toward him. She then lit a marijuana pipe in his presence. When he attempted to confiscate the pipe, the suspect responded by throwing a punch. Captain McCoy backed away and informed her that he would deploy his taser if she did not comply. She refused and challenged him to do so, at which point he deployed the taser.
The suspect then ripped the taser leads out. Captain McCoy deployed pepper spray to subdue her and was able to take her into custody. She was decontaminated by Mercy EMS and subsequently transferred to the Shannon County Jail for booking.
“Under the law, the accused is entitled to a presumption of innocence until proven guilty in a court of law.”
