Carter County Man Charged in Ongoing Elder Abuse Case

Carter County, Mo. — Authorities in Carter County have filed multiple charges against a local man following an investigation into the suspected long-term abuse of a 75-year-old woman.

On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, the Carter County Sheriff’s Office received a report alleging the potential abuse of an elderly female. During the investigation, deputies discovered the victim had suffered significant physical injuries, which investigators believe may indicate years of ongoing abuse.

“Our office is committed to supporting victims and ensuring that domestic violence is not tolerated in Carter County,” the Sheriff’s Office stated. “No one should ever have to endure abuse.”

As a result of the investigation, charges were requested on Wednesday, July 16, against John H. Partney. A no-bond warrant has been issued for his arrest. Partney is facing the following charges:

  • Domestic Assault – 2nd Degree (Felony)

  • Domestic Assault – 2nd Degree (Felony)

  • Harassment – 1st Degree
