Community Foundation of West Plains Donates $6,850 To Local Outreach Programs

Every year, the Community Foundation of West Plains  can award grants to non-profit organizations in and around our community through public donations made to our grant endowment fund.  The Foundation wanted to take the opportunity to start awarding these grants at the West Plains Chamber Awards Ceremony so that the work for those in need by those recipient organizations is brought to the forefront.  This year, the Foundation is pleased to announce that they have four grant recipients totaling $6,850 in total outreach.

The Council has had a long running project of installing a ramp on their tool shed, and the Community Foundation are funding their request at $350.

Lois Price, 37th Circuit Drug Court

37th Circuit Drug Court:

The court has a need for additional training assistance, and the Foundation is funding their request to the tune of $2000.

Connie Pendergrass of CASA

37th Circuit – Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA):

In the 37th Judicial Circuit, there are over 200 child victims in need and CASA currently only has 31 volunteers.  CASA not only needs more volunteers, but funding for PR to recruit those volunteers.  The Community Foundation of West Plains is pleased to also award them $2000 to assist in those marketing efforts.  And lastly –

Birthday Blessings (pictured above):

Birthday Blessings is a unique organization.  They serve the foster children of the West Plains area in providing them birthday and holiday gifts to aid in “normalizing” their existence and providing care and comfort to those children to let them know someone out there notices and values them.  To Birthday Blessings, we are pleased to award them $2,500.

If any of you are interested in volunteering with one of these organizations, reach out to those you saw standing.  And if you have any interest in contributing to their cause, or any other funds with the Community Foundation of West Plains, find Joe Kammerer or myself and we will assist you. Once again, congratulations to all of our grant recipients, and thank you, Jessica, for the time to present them.
