Cabool, MO — A man was arrested early Tuesday morning following a reported domestic assault at Todd’s Motel in Cabool.
Shortly after midnight, the motel’s owner contacted the Cabool Police Department to report the incident, providing officers with photographs showing visible injuries to the victim, including swelling and a facial laceration.
When officers arrived on the scene, they heard crying and whispering from inside the motel room, but no one answered the door. Due to the nature of the call and concern for the victim’s safety, officers made entry into the room. Inside, they found a man and woman lying on a mattress on the floor, along with a dog.
Officers instructed the couple to secure the dog in the bathroom to prevent any injuries. The victim was then asked to step outside. When questioned, she confirmed the man had assaulted her and indicated that this was not the first occurrence.
The suspect, who had moved into the bathroom, was ordered to come out and was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Texas County Sheriff’s Department and has been charged with second-degree domestic assault.
