Dream becoming reality for Cabool man

By Tammy Pistole

Amid the sawdust, electrical wires and construction; a dream is taking shape beautifully. Ty Porter, of Cabool, saw the silver lining when the bathroom cabinetry plant where he was a supervisor closed suddenly in February of 2019. Through that job loss he was introduced to the Missouri Job Center, Sean Mooney and Ozark Action Workforce, which all coordinated efforts to send Ty to school to be a barber. Ty’s face lights up as he talks about dreaming of being a barber ever since that first barber shop haircut as a little boy.

Today, on the corner of Cedar Street and Main work is in progress to renovate an old building where Ty will soon open ‘Porter’s Barbershop.’ He and his wife Amy purchased the building late last year and family members have been working hard ever since to help make Ty’s dream a reality.

Ty plans to keep his barber shop open late, making it convenient for the working man’s schedule.

Watch for details soon from Ozark Radio News when we’ll announce Ty’s grand opening.
