Let’s talk Prop 2 on the Howell County Ballot for this Tuesday April 7, 2026.
“…proposition two would allow for “All” ages of eligible homeowners in Howell County to be eligible for the tax credit.
Whether proposition two passes or fails. It has nothing to do with the senior tax credit already in place.
Another fact from my office of Collector is the amount of credit given last year was close to $250,000 and that was just a little over 2300 applications that were accepted and given credit. It is true that all the schools, the fire departments, the ambulance districts, the library, and health department are the losers of these funds. The estimated impact of close to 14,000 homes in Howell County will be close to a 1.4 million short fall.
