HCHD reports 10 new COVID-19 cases

The Howell County Health Department reports they have been notified of an additional 10 cases of COVID-19 in the county.  This brings the year to date total of cases to 138.  Currently there are 18 known active cases in the county and no cases remain in the hospital.

All ten of the new cases reside in the West Plains area.  Each case is isolating at home under public health guidance.  Eight of these cases have been linked to known cases while two of the cases have been identified as community spread.  Individuals who have been identified as significant exposures to these cases have been notified by the health department.

There has been one community exposures to report from these cases.

People visiting this location on the date identified are considered to be at LOW risk for contracting COVID-19, but should monitor themselves for symptoms.  There is no need to self-quarantine or isolate unless you have symptoms develop.  Anyone who develops symptoms of COVID-19 should contact their health care provider regarding testing and take all necessary precautions to avoid exposing others.

People with COVID-19 have a wide range of symptoms reported, ranging from mild to severe illness.  Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus.  Symptoms of COVID-19 include:

Cough
Shortness of breath
Fatigue
Muscle or body aches
Headache
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose
Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhea
