Howell County Sheriff’s Department Take Part in School Response Training

Last week, Howell County Deputies and Jail Staff took part in an intensive Active School Shooter Response Training combined with First Aid/Trauma Care Training to sharpen their skills and prepare for the worst-case scenario, protecting our community’s most vulnerable: our children and school staff.

This hands-on training, focused on real-world scenarios inside simulated school settings. Deputies practiced room clearing, threat neutralization, team movements, and rapid decision-making under pressure.

In addition, staff received vital first responder medical training, learning how to apply tourniquets, pack wounds, and perform life-saving measures in high-stress situations before EMS arrives. These skills are critical in reducing casualties and providing immediate aid during active incidents.
