Howell County Sheriff’s Office Partners with Southwest Cyber Crimes Task Force to Combat Crimes Against Children

The Howell County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce a new partnership with the Southwest Cyber Crimes Task Force, further strengthening our commitment to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community, our children.

The Southwest Cyber Crimes Task Force is a multi-agency initiative dedicated to investigating and preventing internet crimes against children. These investigations often involve the exploitation of minors through online platforms, including the possession, distribution, and production of child sexual abuse material, as well as online enticement and trafficking. Task force members are specially trained to identify offenders, conduct undercover operations, and work with local, state, and federal partners to bring those responsible to justice.

Through this partnership, the Howell County Sheriff’s Office will assign Corporal Dylan Webb to serve as a task force officer. In this role, Corporal Webb will receive advanced training and resources that will enhance our agency’s ability to investigate complex cyber-related crimes and respond to threats targeting children both locally and across the region.
Importantly, this position is made possible through grant funding associated with the task force, which reimburses approximately 70% of Corporal Webb’s salary and benefits. This funding allows the Sheriff’s Office to expand its investigative capabilities while remaining fiscally responsible to the citizens of Howell County.

Sheriff Matt Roberts stated, “Crimes against children, especially those facilitated through the internet, are among the most disturbing and complex cases we face in law enforcement. This partnership ensures that Howell County has a dedicated, highly trained investigator focused on identifying offenders and protecting children from exploitation. We are committed to doing everything in our power to keep our community safe.”

The Howell County Sheriff’s Office remains dedicated to proactive enforcement, community education, and strong partnerships that enhance public safety. This collaboration with the Southwest Cyber Crimes Task Force represents a significant step forward in our ongoing efforts to protect children and hold offenders accountable.
