Izard County Officials Enact Countywide Burn Ban

IZARD COUNTY, Ark. — A countywide burn ban has been issued for Izard County, effective March 22, 2026, due to conditions that increase the risk of fire spread.

According to county officials, County Judge Eric Smith placed the ban into effect and it will remain in place until further notice.

Authorities are urging residents to refrain from any outdoor burning during this time. Violating a declared burn ban may result in criminal charges under Arkansas law, specifically A.C.A. § 5-38-310.

Officials emphasized that enforcement is intended as a last resort and are asking for voluntary compliance to help protect the community.

“We do not want to have to charge anyone under this statute, so please help us keep our community safe and do not burn during this time,” the notice stated.

Residents are also encouraged to share the information with neighbors and community members who may not use social media to ensure the message reaches as many people as possible.

The burn ban will remain in effect until conditions improve and officials determine it is safe to lift the restriction.
