Missouri and Arkansas – Many wonderous sights in the sky have happened in the 2024 year. First the solar eclipse, the planet parade, and don’t forget the spectacular view of the northern lights. Well, this is all just the beginning because, near the end of July, people will have the chance to enjoy the Delta Aquariid meteor shower.
Overnight from July 29-30 you can welcome the peak of the Delta Aquariid meteor shower. This shower favors the southern hemisphere giving Missouri and Arkansas the chance to witness the bright view of falling meteors. You can expect to see up to 20 meteors each hour under the dark, new-moon sky.
For your best chance to see it look up between dusk and midnight, before the moon rises. Look towards the Aquarius constellation and if you are lucky you can even get a sneak peak at the next major meteor shower in August. That meteor shower is the strong Perseids, which will travel near the constellation Perseus. To get the best viewing get out of the city and away from any major lights that could obstruct your view of the stars and the night sky.
