Man arrested in Shannon County shooting

Daymond Reeves, 21, has been charged with second degree murder and armed criminal action in the shooting death of Allan Brewer. According to a probable cause statement from Reeves’ wife the Saturday (8/8) shooting was the result of an altercation between her husband and Brewer. A probable cause statement is not an indication of fact, it is an statement made by a witness to the crime.

According to the statement, Reeves and his wife were traveling on Route E in Shannon County when they passed a slow moving truck. The passed truck then allegedly sped up and began tailing Reeves. Reeves then pulled over to allow the truck to pass, however, instead of passing, the truck pulled over behind Reeves.

It was then reported an altercation ensued after Reeves left his vehicle in possession of a pistol. Gunshots were fired and Reeves and his wife then left the scene.

A passing motorist stopped at the scene of the shooting to call 911, while another person administered CPR to Brewer. Officers and Emergency personnel responded to the call to find Brewer laying in the highway with “numerous gunshot wounds,” according to a Shannon County Sheriff’s Department report. Brewer was pronounced dead at 9:12 p.m. Saturday evening.

Sunday(8/9), Reeves and his wife were arrested in connection to the shooting. Deputies obtained a search warrant on Reeve’s truck and found expended shell casings on the driver’s side floor board. They were consistent with shell casings found at the site of the shooting.

Charges were filed against Reeves Monday (8/10). The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
