Man Charged with DWI After an Accident in West Plains

A three-vehicle collision at the intersection of U.S. Highway 63 and Lanton Road on August 24 has led to a criminal investigation after one driver was suspected of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and with a revoked license.

According to law enforcement officials on scene, the crash occurred when Tyler Joseph Wilson attempted a left turn onto Lanton Road under a flashing yellow arrow, failing to yield to oncoming traffic. The resulting collision left an elderly female passenger in one of the other vehicles with moderate to potentially serious injuries.

During the crash response, officers observed that Wilson exhibited signs of intoxication, including glassy eyes and the odor of alcohol. The individual later admitted to consuming both alcoholic beverages and marijuana prior to the incident. Field sobriety tests were administered, and officers determined the suspect appeared impaired. The suspect subsequently refused to submit to a blood test.

A records check revealed the suspect’s driving privileges in Missouri had been revoked due to a prior chemical revocation, administrative alcohol suspension, and an in-state failure to appear (FTA) suspension.

Wilson has been charged with DWI with Physical Injury, Drivng while Revoked/Suspended and Failure to Yield.
