Mansfield Man Arrested on Child Molestation Charges

A Mansfield man has been arrested for two counts each of Child Molestation and Statutory Sodomy.  The charges have been filed after an investigation that began in early May when a witness contacted the Mansfield Police about a sexual assault.

According to the Probable Cause Statement, upon arrival the witness told officers that two victims, both granddaughters of Joseph Bingham, the accused, had been sexually assaulted.  Bingham was the victim’s guardian since May of 2021.

Interviews were conducted with both victims that stated the abuse had been on-going since they moved in with Bingham when they were 8 years old and described the abuse that was taking place. Exams were done on the two victims and results were consistent with the allegations.

Officers interviewed Bingham, who denied the allegations of touching the victims and went on to state that if he did touch the victims, it would have been an accident when they were wrestling and that the victims could have done it to themselves.

Bingham was arrested on June 10th.
