Marion County Investigators Team with FBI in Fire-Related Death Case

YELLVILLE, Ark. – The Marion County Sheriff’s Department released its weekly activity report for the week ending July 25, highlighting a steady volume of calls for service, multiple investigations, and a continued commitment to officer training and interagency collaboration.

Deputies responded to 76 calls for service throughout the week. Among these, four wellness checks were conducted, and notably, there were no domestic disturbance calls reported. Arrest activity included one misdemeanor arrest and two felony arrests. Deputies also responded to or assisted with two motor vehicle accidents and filed 17 incident reports. In court-related duties, deputies logged a total of 14 bailiff hours.

Ongoing and New Investigations

 

The department’s investigators reported significant developments:

  • One felony investigation was closed, while three new death investigations were opened.

 

  • Investigators conducted 14 interviews related to ongoing cases.

 

  • One search warrant was executed in connection to a previous death investigation.

 

A key development took place on Monday, July 21, when investigators partnered with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Emergency Response Team (ERT) to execute a search warrant related to a suspected fire-related death.

Officer Training

 

One investigator began Week 1 of the Narcotics Officer Certificate Program hosted by the Criminal Justice Institute (CJI) in Little Rock. The intensive training, which includes five one-week sessions over five months, focuses on advanced narcotics investigation techniques and strategies.

Detention Center Activity

 

At the Marion County Detention Center:

  • 21 individuals were booked into the facility,

 

  • 22 were released, and

 

  • The facility ended the week with 41 inmates in custody.

 

The Sheriff’s Office continues to maintain transparency with weekly public reports and remains engaged with federal partners and state-level training programs to enhance public safety and investigative capabilities.
