Missouri Stream Team Releases 2024 Annual Report, Plans Watershed Celebration at Meramec State Park

The Missouri Stream Team Program has released its 2024 Annual Report, highlighting a year of impressive environmental stewardship by volunteers across the state. What began in 1989 with a small group of anglers cleaning up Roubidoux Creek has grown into a movement of more than 6,000 Stream Teams and 135,000 volunteers working to protect Missouri’s waterways.

In 2024 alone, Stream Team members:

Priority Pet Care – Make An Appointment

  • Collected 504 tons of trash
  • Planted 1,303 trees
  • Stenciled 557 storm drains
  • Conducted 398 water quality monitoring trips
  • Held 271 educational events
  • Contributed over 95,300 volunteer hours

Over the past 35 years, Stream Team volunteers have removed more than 14,127 tons of trash, planted over 405,000 trees, and contributed more than 3.5 million hours toward stream conservation efforts.

To celebrate these achievements, Missouri Stream Team and Stream Teams United are inviting teams to the 29th Annual Watershed Celebration on Friday, July 26, at Meramec State Park. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hickory Ridge Conference Center and Overlook Pavilion, and features free camping, a provided lunch, and family-friendly activities. Attendees are encouraged to bring a dessert to share.
